My birthday is quickly approaching and I'm so excited.
I love celebrating my birthday and it really has nothing to do with gifts or even cake (which I love).
It's the joy of being alive to see another year, to take chance at life again...cue Dido.
I was surprised to find out that a lot of people just let their birthdays pass by and not celebrate it. Madness !!!
This is the day that God blessed the world by adding you into the mix.
Each year is an opportunity to improve, refine and remodel yourself.
I see getting older as a second chance to correct and clean up the mess we have made in our lives.
Why not celebrate that?
If you aren't happy with where you are in life when your birthday rolls around, then vow to be there when the next one comes.
Celebrate and rejoice.

I finally got myself some Oxfords...ok so now what?

Can't figure out what I have in my closet to go with them, but I have them and that is all that matters. Have to feed my obsession.

On a side note, I have decided to not buy anymore shoes for the rest of the year, lol. If anyone knows me, they know that it will be a challenge to say the least.

I don't consider myself to have an addictive personality but I L.O.V.E shoes. I could sit for hours browsing shoe websites, I dream about shoes. I fall in love with shoes...

So it will not be easy but I'm going to try to make it. There are only nine more months in the can't be that bad right???

Sade- Real Music

I was uber excited when I heard that Sade was coming out with a new album. I own almost every song that she has recorded, she is for me the epitome of talent.
Sade represents what real music is about; amazing vocals, intelligent and meaningful lyrics and deep sense of self that transcends the desire for fame.

The entire album is amazing, my favorites are Soldier of Love, Baby Father, The Moon and the Sky and Skin... ok I just realized that I was about to list all the songs on the album, so I guess I love every single song.

This album should be on everyone's MP3 player.

The Dating Game

I'm not a big dating person. I'm not one for simply going out with someone for the sake of being on a date or getting a free meal.
If I'm not interested from the jump or the guy doesn't exhibit certain charactersitics I look for then, I won't go out with him. Why waste my time?
Apparently, this makes me too picky according to some people.

My friends try to remind me that it is just a date, not marriage.
I guess I think that someone I go out with should have the kind of qualities I look for in the man I would like to marry. maybe I am jumping too far ahead in my thinking but I would rather not waste my time going on bad dates.
As I'm getting older I'm beginning to relax a little in my thinking. I may regret this decision but I'm trying to be open minded and positive.

I have decided to actually go on more dates if asked, of course using good judgement.
It depends on the approach the man uses, I have to maintain some sort of standard after all. He has to approach me like a gentleman and be able to carry out an intelligent conversation.

Not every man I go out on a date with will be my ideal but I guess it will give me the opportunity to have a more realistic idea of the opposite sex. I'll gain some experience and knowledge which is a good thing.

If nothing else, I'll have some amsuing date stories to tell.

Eliminating Fear

"Action is the only cure for fear"

I have been thinking about this quote this weekend and it is so simple but true.
So many times we allow fear to paralyze us and prevent us for going after the things we want in life.
The best way to overcome fear is to just get up and do what it is we want to do.

I am applying this belief to the way I live my life. My goal is to be fearless because that is the best way to guarantee that I will actually accomplish and fulfill my dreams.

One of my first goals is to start driving. This is my biggest fear, driving terrifies me but I am ready to face it head on and finally get my driver's license.

Once I accomplish this, the sky is the limit.
Maybe sky-diving next, who knows.
