Thing I'm Afraid to Tell You

Quite accidentally I discovered a movement that began as a result of  this post over on the blog Makeunder my Life. The whole point of it was to give readers insight into the life of Jess the blogger. It was about being truly honest with your audience about who you are as not only a blogger but as a person with a life outside of your blog.

I Choose to Breathe

Everyday I get one day closer to leaving.
Yesterday I had to fill out my travel document to have the visa process started. This means hopefully, I'll have a travel date in the the next 6-8 weeks. That's not that far away y'all.
I try not to think too much about the move because to be honest it's so stressful. There are so many little things to worry about.

Denim Shorts and Toms

Denim Shorts and Toms

Dress
Uniqlo denim short shorts, £15
TOMS blue flat, $44
Marc by Marc Jacobs genuine leather handbag, £290
Arena CPH yellow gold jewelry, $286
MICHAEL Michael Kors michael kors watch, $150

I am so obsessed with Toms. Surprisingly, I don't own a pair as YET. I love that you can wear them with anything.

Don't know what color I would get but I love this blue. My only worry is that they would get dirty easily and I hate dirty shoes.

Denim shorts are awesome for summer. I don't own a pair either. LOl, shameful. I'm going to make some for myself. I have a bunch of old pants that I can cut. No sense spending money on cut-offs when I can totally make them.

Disappointed

My friends mean the world to me and I'm the type who would pretty much do anything to help them or be there for them in anyway I can as long as it was humanly possible.
The trouble is that because I am this way, I typically think my friends will be the same too. Not true.

Peplum for You

I really love Peplum. It's such a classic and versatile style. It's so easy to dress it up or down. Throw on heels or flats and you have an instantly chic outfit.
Here are some ideas for wearing peplum without being stuffy.
Enjoy!

the expatkerri blog: seven tips for living alone

I found this really awesome post on expatkerri's blog about living alone. I've never lived on my own, well except  for my first year in college but I had a roommate so technically I wasn't alone alone.
With my upcoming move, I'll be on my own for the first time in my 29 years on earth. Can you say scary!
This post however was great for putting things into perspective and got me excited about being on my own and enjoying it.
I hope you find it as helpful as I did.

Pain in the Mouth

Omg, I had my wisdom teeth taken out on Saturday and I've been miserable since. I'm a big girl but I feel like crying like a baby. My face is swollen and I look like a pumpkin. It hurts and I haven't been able to eat. Y'all I'm so hungry. I think that is a big part of why I'm so dizzy and miserable. My body needs food. The worst part is that I have paper due and I can't muster the strength to get it done. As soon as I get on the computer I feel so sick. It's due at midnight, ugh! I'm taking off work tomorrow so hopefully I'll feel better, I'll be able to get my paper done and hand it in a little late. Have you taken out your teeth? What was your experience? What do you eat?

To Pierce or Not to Pierce?

I've been thinking about getting a new ear piercing. It's called a Tragus piercing and it's that little bulb of cartilage at the entrance to your inner ear. It just looks really cool and it's something I've been contemplating really hard about getting.
What's taking so long? The fact that I'm a wuss and hate pain. It just looks like its going to hurt. I've asked people who have had it done and they say it doesn't hurt but everyone's tolerance for pain is different and mine is somewhere in the negative integers range.
Well, if it does happen it'll be before I leave which gives me a few more weeks to grow some cojones.
So what do you think about this piercing? Do you have one? Did it hurt?

Weighty Subject

Hey all,
Just popping by to say a quick "hey". Waiting to go take my exam for the worst class in the history of my college career.
As I'm sitting here, all I can concentrate on is my rumbling belly.
I re-started my South Beach Diet today (my 2nd attempt in 2 weeks, Girl Scout cookies ended a week of soldier-like self control) and I am going through it. All I can think about is junk food.
Day one is usually the hardest though, especially of you have been eating cookies and junk like I have. Your body just craves the sugars and all that bad stuff.
Ugh...I can make it. Did it before an lost 20 lbs. My goal is to drop 20 again.
Hopefully once my classes end I can incorporate some exercise and tone up. I definitely don't need any extra poundage, that can't be good in temperature in the hundreds.
Wish me luck!!
Ciao.

Making Life Happen

I'm so excited. I definitely feel that this is the year to live out my dreams. One of thee things I've always wanted to do is take a photography class. I thought about it and loved the idea but like so many other things I've wanted to do, never actually took the steps to make it happen. A few days ago I came across a Lifebooker deal for a photography workshop. Of course I figured I should get it. The price was decent and I'll pick up some great tips for improving my skills. I can check this off my bucket list. 1 down, 29 to go. Ciao

Bucket List

I was thinking of composing a to-do list of sorts. Well actually a bucket list.
The plan was to make it a 30 before 30, until I realized that I'll be 30 next March. While that seems like ample time to get 30 things done, I don't want to put such pressure on myself.
I'll just make a list of things I would like to get done- before I die.
Most of the list will revolve around traveling, since that is what my heart desires.
In no order of importance, here goes:

  1. Live alone
  2. Back-pack in Asia
  3. Go fishing
  4. Ride in a gondola
  5. Stay in a hostel
  6. Swim with dolphins
  7. Get dang driver's license (this should be nĂºmero uno)
  8. Go to Africa
  9. Eat authentic Thai food in Thailand
  10. Visit the Grand Canyons
  11. Go to a spa and get the whole nine yards (facial, massage, all that)
  12. Scuba Dive

  14. Dune Bash
  15. Visit a castle in Europe (Prague 2009)
  16. camp in the desert
  17. Throw a party (a fancy one with seating cards and flowers)
  18. Go to Loy Krathong, the sky lantern festival in Thailand
  19. take a photography class
  20. Budget effectively
  21. Volunteer at a Homeless Shelter or orphanage
  22. Try caviar
  23. See the pyramids in Egypt
  24. Hold a baby Koala
  25. Visit Japan
  26. Be debt free

Confession of a Procrastinator

I'm silently cursing myself as I stand in line waiting for my turn to get a number so I can wait some more on another line.

All this could have been avoided if I hadn't been such a procrastinator.
For years I've been complacent about getting my driver's license. Many opportunities for me to do so have come and gone and now my permit has expired and I have to re-take the written test to get a new permit.
Then I have to pay to take classes and then do my road test. Did I mention I have to do this before August 1st?
Yeah, no bueno!!

Home Living

I've never lived on my own, but that's about to change when I make the move.

Big decisions will need to be be made regarding decorating. I'll be moving into an unfurnished apartment and given money to furnish it all by my lonesome.
I'm no interior decorator and the prospect though exciting is still pretty overwhelming.

I'll need to buy bedroom, living and dining room furniture, oh my! To get a sense of what I want and to help inspire some creativity I've begun my research. Here are just a few of the images I've collected to help me make some progress. So far i'm only on the living room. I haven't even looked at bedroo ideas yet.

This living room is so colorful. I love it! I love that big yellow/citron couch. Never would have thought to go there but I'm feeling it. The placements on the photo frames is a fun way of adding details to the space without it being cluttered.

It's nice to have a little corner to curl up in and read or just decompress after a long day. I just love this little nook. I think it's a great way to use the space. The little rug was what caught my eye, it's too cute!

This living room also has a great feel to it. I love the orange accents and the lighting makes it so inviting. It looks simple enough to do, so even I could pull this off.

So these are just a few of my inspirations. If you know any sites or have any ideas please feel free to help a girl out.
Ciao!!!
