Crazy Day

Today I spent the day agonizing over my plane ticket.
Every time I heard the email notification go off on my phone my heart would skip a beat. I kept checking my email obsessively and it proved fruitless. Everyone else seemed to be getting their tickets, but not me.
It is so stressful and nerve racking to deal with. I hope that I will be able to focus on other things tomorrow and not check Facebook or email. I can't do this again.
My stomach is in knots. I keep praying for God to take the anxiety away.
It will all be fine because he got me here and he's going to take me to the finish line. There is still time, more tickets will be mailed out tomorrow and the day after.
I'm going to go to bed and take it easy.
Ciao!

I'm a pretty frugal gal. Since making the decision to be natural I've became aware of the multitude of products available on the market that promise to do wonders for your hair.
Needless to say, it can become quite expensive to try these products out.
It was great to come across this post and to learn about the different lines out there that will be easy on the pocket.
Check it out, maybe there will be something for you.

Where is my ticket?

source

I'm still waiting.
Thank God for patience. Sometimes I feel really anxious but there is nothing I can do about making the process go any faster so I have to find something else to think about so that I don't go crazy.
Hopefully this will be the week that we get our tickets. One lady from Singapore got her ticket today and now everyone is sitting on the edges of their seats anxiously waiting.
The good thing is that I'm getting the little last minute things done. Keeping busy helps.

Losing Again

You know how I went to Jamaica and attempted to make up for the almost 12 years I was away by eating EVERYTHING I hadn't been able to eat? Of course I'm paying the price now and almost none of my jeans can fit.
Well I came across a diet that guarantees to help shed the poundage quickly.
At first glance it may look like a crash diet but the blogger stated that it is doctor recommended so since I'm pretty desperate I decided to try it.
I am now on day 3 and I have to say I feel pretty ok considering I've consumed are fruits and veggies.
4 more days to go before I go back to eating regularly.
Here is the picture I first found. The blogger made it so simple and concise with this template.

I'm also listing the website where you can read up more about the diet if you want. Check it out HERE.
Hopefully I can atleast fit back into some of my clothes when I'm done.

My days are numbered...

I received an email stating that our expected departure date is between August 6-11.
Wow, my heart starts racing triple time ( stole that from SWV) when I think about it.
The adventure is about to begin. I've been fretting about all the things that may go wrong but then I'm reminded that God opened the door for me and he will make everything alright. He's got my back.

Everything Is Good Now

Apparently there was some issue with my blog. When you clicked on it there was a virus warning.
I made a little adjustment and it should be fine now. Hopefully there isn't an issue again.

Fashion Inspired

I haven't done a fashion post in a while. When I came across this picture of Tia Mowry I was immediately in love with the juxtaposition between sexy and demure.
It goes to show that you don't need to show off your lady parts to be sexy.

She looks amazing. Love the color.
Yellow seems to be in for this summer. I've see lots of celebs wearing it. It's a universally flattering color, and will look good on any skin tone.
I have to incorporate more yellow into my wardrobe.
Ciao.

Natural Girl

Hey remember when I made the goal to go natural and that by this month I would be rocking my kinks? Well, I actually did it. I've been wearing my hair out and went to Jamaica with my little twist out.
I love it!!! It's been very easy to manage, I love a big ol' afro but I've come to realize that having fine hair can be a blessing.

Jamaican Me Crazy

Hi folks, I'm back from my awesome trip to Jamaica.
Wow, did I have a great time. I think I fell in love with Jamaica in a new way, from a mature point of view I guess.
When I lived there I was young and dumb and could not appreciate all that the country has to offer. This time though it was different, I enjoyed the beaches and the food and the culture.
Absence does make the heart grow fonder I suppose.

Saw some friends and family who I haven't seen in ages and the good thing is that it didn't even feel weird seeing them after so long. We just fell right back into old times which means plenty of laughter. I think I might be planning more regular trips home, it was just that great. Why did I stay away fro so long???

I checked out some new places, the hotspots in Kingston. Ate and ate way too much ackee and saltfish and fried fish with bammy. My waistline is really suffering but it was well worth it. I will need to go on a serious diet.

Enjoy some of my pictures from the trip.

Heyyyyy

Greetings from Jamaica!
Just a quickie to say hi.
I'm enjoying myself, it's been great catching up with old friends and eating beef patties.
I'll be going to the beach and relaxing over the weekend. Plus I'll get to see my granny, so I'm super excited.
Ciao for now.

Leaving on a Jet Plane

via

Hi friends,
I'm so excited because today is the day I leave for Jamaica!!!

You can't even imagine just how excited I am feeling right now. The beast part is that I get to travel with my mom. She hasn't seen my grandma is ages and I know she is excited and super happy.
I'll be running around and seeing family and friends.
I'm going to eat and get fat(ter) because there are things that only taste good in Jamaica, lol.
See you when I get back!
Ciao.

Misadventure on a Bus

As I write this post, I'm reclining in my seat on the express Greyhound bus from Pittsburgh using the free WiFi provided. This is the last and suprisingly decent leg of a less than great beginning journey. For starters, I was actually supposed to be on Megabus, another bus company and should have been at home and in bed already. However, for some inexplicable reason determined by a higher power,I missed that bus. Folks, it was literally sitting around the corner as my friends and I kept driving around searching for the bus. It also did not help that the company had sent a million and one emails with changes to the pick up location. We were hella confused, and none of us were familiar with the area so we had no clue that the bis stop was under our noses. So close that we saw it pulling away from the location. As it pulled away I thought it was coming around to pick up but sadly it was making its way to NY without yours truly. Thank God for my IPhone, as we were heading back to my friend's apartment I began searching for alternate travel options. Megabus was out, no Sunday trips. Flying was way too expensive. I looked up Greyhound, which luckily had a station around the corner from where we were waiting for Megabus. I bought a 2am bus ticket, my friend turned around and back downtown we headed. God interveeved because although by the time I got on the bus it was practically full to capacity,an older man at the very front had an empty window seat available. All the other people had passed the seat and I was almost the last to get on and there was the perfect seat waiting. Lucky thing too because the 2 seats left were either next to the creep who kept looking over at me or the 400 lb guy who took up almost both seats. I felt really bad for the guy who got stuck beside him. He was practically cuddling the big guy by the middle of the trip. Funny thing, one the transfer bus the old guy was there and same situation again. I was in the last group and all the seats were practically full; and at the front there was old guy waiting with the empty seat.God is way awesome. I hate the aisle seat and I abhor sitting in the back of a bus. Lesson learned many years ago as I spent the entire first half of the trip with my nose and mouth pressed against the window sill sucking in any amount of fresh air because the stench from the bathroom was so unbearable, but I digress. Old guy and I made jokes about me following him and him saving my seat. So,I'm in my seat up front and at the window. Yay!!! So despite things not working out the way I wanted, they worked out in the end. Things happen for a reason and I'm learning to just be flexible and go with the flow. I have a feeling this experience is preparing me for something. Don't know what exactly but I do know that I can handle it. Ciao!

It's Getting Hot, Hot, Hot

I'm in Pittsburgh visiting with friends for a reunion of sorts. I've seen each of them in the past two years but they haven't seen each other in eight years. We have been reminiscing about the good ol' college old days and pretty much misbehaving. Good times, good times. Pittsburgh is a great city but I must say the heat is not working for me. Don't get me wrong, NY is just as hot so it's not a diss to the Pitts. The reality just hit while I was here traipsing all over town that my behind decided to move to a country that sits on the sun's a*%. What the hell was I thinking? I sweat like a whore in church(this colorful analogy is brought to you courtesy of my crazy friend) and it is not a pretty sight. If I'm complaining about the heat here what is going to happen when I move and it's a desert out there? Any hopes of meeting Mr. Right in Abu Dhabi are dwindling. The temperature there is way worse so just imagine how sweaty and gross I'll be. I don't which man is going to want none of that. Good thing I'm not moving there to find a rich man to take care of me as relax and eat peeled grapes while lounging on a diamond encrusted chaise. Lol. Well that's a wrap tonight folks. Talk to you soon.pray that I don't melt like a stick of butter on a griddle cake. Ciao!
