Weekend Shenanigans

Hi lovelies,
This past Saturday I was finally able to attend the Essence Block Party in DUMBO. I've wanted to go for ages but I never know when anything is happening. Luckily my friend who knows when all the fun things happen is in town and invited me to go with her.
It was a beautiful day but hot as the devil's backside. Despite the heat we had a good time and it was great running into some of my favorite bloggers and YouTubers.

My face before the heat melted all my make-up

Finally got an a chance to wear this cute little Asos off the shoulder frock before the summer goes away.

Later in the evening I went to Korea Town to meet up with two lovely ladies I worked with a million years ago when I worked retail. We hadn't seen each other in years and it was amazing seeing them especially since one is preggers and the other just got married a few months ago.

Chocolate and Vanilla back together again!

Love these ladies!!!

After dinner we went to a great Korean desert spot called Grace Street and I ran into a super sweet blogger who I always check out for awesome natural hair tips.

Waffles with Green tea ice-cream and Oreos. Yessssssss

French Toast with Vanila ice-cream and Maple Syrup. So good

Color Pop Mini Haul

Hey lovelies,
Anyone who knows me well, knows that I love a good lip color. I'm basically addicted to lipsticks, lip stains and pretty much any form of cosmetic that adds a pop of color to my pout.
I also don't like to spend a lot of money but I love good quality. What a conundrum!

Luckily, I discovered Color Pop. I've seen loads of YouTubers using the brand in their tutorials but had dismissed it because I thought it was expensive. Ummm... how wrong I was!
The lippies are six bucks and lip liners are five bucks. Eye shadow singles are five bucks as well. The make-up gods are here for me and I'm here for Colorpop.

I almost went crazy but had to exercise some self control and ended up ordering only a few items.

Being the undercover hoarder that I am, I was so tempted to keep the box because of how pretty it is on the inside but alas I threw it out but how lovely to receive goodies in cute packaging. Feels like Christmas!

The Ultra Matte Lippies caught my eye and after watching a bunch of reviews on YouTube videos settled on these three.

Wearing Tulle with the Ellarie lippie pencil in the top photo and LAX in the bottom photo.
Same pose, different day y'all. This is my good side, lol.

I don't wear eye shadow often but I needed to add some matte colors to my collection as well as a new bronzy shade. I picked up Fairfax( Black Brown) Blaze (Coco Bronze with a lil' glitter) and Quatre (Blackened Brown) .

need to work on swatching colors, eek

P.S how cute is this little thank you card. I'm such a sucker for cute packaging.
The lippies last forever even after eating, drinking and taking a nap. I never have to reapply, which is great cause I'm lazy.
Guys, if you have been sleeping on Colorpop it's time to wake up. This stuff is awesome! Go get you some.

Life Lately

Hi lovelies,
Thank God for long weekends. They're so necessary. My plan is to relax and take it easy. I'll finally get the mani/pedi I've so desperately needed, do laundry and get my room in order. I'll probably be able do some reading that isn't work related.

These past few weeks have been considerably taxing, physically and emotionally.
I went back to work on August 1st and the kiddies came back on the 17th. This year I'm a classroom teacher, which at my school means you're literally exhausted ALL the time. We're going into week 3 and I'm already tired, like WTH?
Hopefully things get better as the year progresses.

There isn't much else going on besides work to be honest.

I am back on the singles market. Things didn't work out with the guy and I'm glad we decided to end it sooner rather than later. I don't believe in hanging on just for the sake of being in a relationship. I'd much prefer to be single than in a relationship that feels forced. It's not always easy to walk away but if you aren't happy with the situation you need to Cut it.

The good thing is that I was able to do some reflecting on the relationship and had a few come to Jesus moments. I learned some things that will definitely help make me a better person for my future partner.

For one, it's so important to have a strong sense of who you are as an individual and what you want before you go into a relationship. I thought I had it figured out but I still have some work to do to ensure that I am my authentic self and not feel like I have to hold back certain aspects of my personality to be more appealing to someone.

Also, I'm more convinced now that it is absolutely necessary for me to be with someone who shares my faith and is on a similar journey. It is one of my non-negotiables but I kind of just let it slide and that led to way more conflict than is healthy for any relationship. I am definitely not willing to go through that again.

Anyway, life goes on.

After the break up I tried to get back in the dating pool. I' chatted with a bunch of guys and went out on a few dates but I starting to feel jaded. Online dating is way exhausting. I've deleted my accounts and I'm taking a break from it all .Right now I'm not as invested in the process.
Maybe I'll try again in the future. I'm really just hoping the man of my dreams will just walk up to my door and ring the bell and that will be that. LOL, talk about wishful thinking.

Hopefully my next Life Lately post will be more fun and I'll have way more interesting things to chat about.
